LAB Meet 8

Competing for Motor City Track Club, Malencia Price of Port Huron High set several big sprint PRs in the girls’ competition, running 8.07 in the 60-meter dash and 26.35 in the 200. She is now qualified for the indoor state meet in both events.


In the 400-meter dash, all local runners also set personal bests on Saturday.16 Ways Foundation members Cristina Semian and Allison Mansfield - also teammates at Armada - were 26th and 27th in 63.34 and 63.35, respectively, with Samantha Whitlam (Macomb Lutheran North) taking 42nd in 64.6.  Samantha Langolf placed 79th with a 69.43 for the Blue Water Track Club.   Langolf took 43rd in the 800-meter run in 2:41.27, another personal best, along with her Port Huron Northern teammates Miley Caughel (44th; 2:43.10) and Haley Sharp (54th; 2:45.79).  Caughel, Langolf, Isabella Nestle, and Sharp were fourth in the 4x400 relay in 4:40.  Nestle was also 100th in the 200-meter dash with a personal best of 29.45.  


Armada’s Addison Noteboom was 71st in the 1600 in 6:13 and Anchor Bay high-jumper Alysia Goudelock was fourth in 4’-10” for 16 Ways.  


Many personal bests fell in the boys’ events at the Lab, with Isaac Miller (16 Ways/MLN) setting a PR in the 200 (24th; 23.55) and 400 (26th; 54.36).  Anchor Bay’s Aaron Osterman was 35th in a 54.95 PR, then ran another best in the 800 to take 16th in 2:04.43.  St. Clair’s Jerry Westrick (50th; 2:10.9) and Ethan Kreger (63rd; 2:15.02 PR) also competed.


Moving into the 1600, MLN and 16 Ways Foundation teammates Xavier Roman and Nino Biondo were 27th (4:41) and 77th (5:05.83).  Jonah Konarz (Anchor Bay) qualified AQ for the 60-meter hurdles final and placed 7th in 8.53, meeting the state meet qualification again.  Konarz joined with Adrian Walker, Chris Walker, and Dominik Kozlowski to take third in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:28, well under the 3:45 standard needed for indoor state meet qualification.



CMU MITS Meet

Sat., Feb. 1, 2025


Athletes competing at Central Michigan University’s MITS meet Saturday got a feel for the indoor state meet venue: the Jack Skoog Indoor Athletic Complex will host the MITS championships March 8-9.  


The Runner’s High Club (Romeo) had quite a few fast times across mid-distance to distance events.  In the 800-meter dash, Natalia Guaresimo took third in 2:22.28 (PR/state AQ), Violet Hrabovsky fourth in 2:22.37 (PR/state AQ), and Olivia Purdy 12th in 2:28.81 (PR).  Freshman Natalie Vert ran a best of 2:41.98 to take 34th, along with 17th place in the 1600 in 5:53 (PR).  Annie Hrabovsky decisively won the 3200, setting a personal best of 10:44, easily besting the 11:45 needed to qualify for indoor states.  Reese Rosbolt took seventh in 11:55.26.  The Runner’s High Club took first and second in the Distance Medley Relay, which features a 1200-400-800-1600 exchange and is usually only raced at indoor meets, and qualified both teams at 12:34 and 12:50.  There was also a 2K steeplechase, which was a unique feature.


In the sprints and field events, Keirra Taube (Yale) had several top places for Michigan Racers, taking first in the 4x400 relay and tied for second in the high jump in 5’-2”.  Kayla Faust (PHN) was 25th in the 60-meter dash for the Racers, running a PR of 8.66, inching her ever closer to the 8.50 needed for state meet qualification.


On the boys’ side, Kieran Whitlam (MLN) vaulted 12-6 for Inversion Vault Club to take fifth place.


COLLEGIATE RESULTS

Jet’s Pizza Invitational - SVSU

Friday, Feb. 1 - Sat., Feb. 2, 2025


In women’s competition, Janae Hudson (Marysville) continued her strong freshman-year campaign for SVSU with a PR of 15.03 meters (49’-4”) in the 20-lb weight throw.  Sophomore Maya Freeman (Port Huron High) was 18th in 12.39 meters (40’-8”) for Concordia University.  Jayde Ullenbruch of PHH was 34th in the 60-meter dash (8.26 PR), 54th in the 200 (28.51), 15th in the 60-meter hurdles (9.67), and 10th in the long jump (4.89 meters/16 feet) for Concordia.


Oakland University’s Olivia Reynolds (Dryden) took 11th in the 400 in 61.25, while Aubrey Connelly (Cros-Lex) was 18th in 63.92 in the 400-meter dash and also ran a leg in the 4x400 relay, placing fourth in 4:12 for the University of Olivet.  SC4’s Laela Bhatti (Imlay City) was 37th in 68.21.


Running unattached, Grace Wessel (MACH) was 17th in the 800 in 2:22 - a PR - and 19th in the mile in 5:19. SC4’s Olivia Crawford was 58th in 6:13.  Wayne State’s Jessica Denver (Imlay City) was 37th in 5:38 for the mile.  Spring Arbor University’s Abagayle Barkley (Cros-Lex) was 39th in the 800 in 2:36 and 45th in the mile in 5:43.


In the men’s races, Armada’s Camden Khon qualified for the NAIA Indoor Championships with a win in the mile (4:09.97 PR) and as the 800-meter leg in the Spring Arbor University’s distance medley relay.  Vinny Schweihofer of SC4 (St. Clair) was 26th in 4:32, a career-best.  Schweihofer also took 35th in the 400 with a PR of 55.97.  Trent Glass (Marysville) was 22nd in the 800 for the SC4 Skippers in 2:01.


SVSU’s Noah Verlinde (Armada) led all Blue Water Area runners in the 3000 with a fourth-place finish and a PR of 8:22, while teammate Lukas Kriesch (Yale) was 21st in 8:52.  Acer Campbell (SC4/Yale) was 24th in the 3000-meter run in 8:56, close to a 10-second personal best, and SC4 teammates Ethan McCombs (Cros-Lex) and Dylan Schumann (St. Clair) were 38th and 52nd, running personal bests of 9:11 and 9:37.  In the 5000-meter run, Marysville’s Brock Denuyl (U of M Run Club) was 12th in 15:26 and Ferris State’s Blake Ferguson (Yale) was 25th in 15:51.  


Tye Kirschner (Cros-Lex) of Olivet was 15th in the 60-meter hurdles (8.91), 21st in the long jump (5.78 meters/19 feet), and helped his 4x400-meter relay to an eighth-place finish in 3:37.
