It was an incredible day across West Michigan for track and field athletes in all divisions. Blue Water Area schools returned from the state meet competition with several individual state championships and multiple all-state podium finishes. Many other competitors saw season or personal bests on the track and field. Check out the full results of each meet for other Blue Water Area athlete finishes.

The Thumb Meet of Champs on Tuesday wrapped up Blue Water Area track and field meets with some last-chance race tune-ups and the clock is now counting down to Saturday’s state finals for qualified athletes. Here’s a round-up of local performances from that meet and Top-Ten predictions going into state meet competition. Local Blue Water Area track and field athletes kicked off their holiday weekend with some personal bests and late-season performances before the state finals on June 1.

The chance to earn a trip to the Track and Field State Finals was on the line throughout Michigan this weekend, and despite lightning delays, high heat, and tough competition, athletes around the Blue Water Area rose to the occasion to punch a ticket to the big day on June 1. The Greater Thumb League (Memphis/Capac), North Central Thumb League (Dryden), and MAC Gold and Bronze (Marysville, New Haven, Port Huron, and St. Clair) wrapped up their league competitions on Tuesday for the 2024 season. All eyes turn toward Regionals this weekend as athletes will be looking to hit qualifying standards or places to earn a state-meet berth.

The first round of May invitationals kicked off this past weekend and it’s that time of year when athletes’ training and performances start to come together and personal bests are frequently achieved.
